It’s hard to believe this time last week I was schmoozing with the best of the best in Australian television.
As I sit here waiting to watch the Real Housewives of Melbourne reunion I can’t help but be excited for tonight’s episode having chatted to the ladies on the red carpet. But I digress so back to the Logies…..
I’ve covered a red carpet or two and to be invited to cover this as a Community Newspaper Group correspondent was an invitation too good to pass up.
Every red carpet is different. Some you are grouped with other media and asked to come up with questions as a group others you get to ask one question per person but with the Logies we were given the luxury of chatting to whoever we wanted.
Television media sit up at the front of the carpet while radio, print and online get put further down. In our case we right at the end of the carpet with a few radio people, Buzzfeed and a Melbourne blogger.
In our group there would have been about 15 of us and to say it was squishy is an understatement, we (my photographer and I) were lucky to be placed with the Buzzfeed guys who were more than accommodating with space unlike some who thought the carpet belonged to them (seriously interesting dynamics – pure craziness!).
Anyways given the craziness I thought we’d only get two or three interviews but we were lucky to end up with about 15 including Housewife Chyka Keebaugh who had earlier that day announced her resignation from the show, Silver Logie winner Deborah Mailman, Gold Logie winner Waleed Aly, Rove McManus and many more.
I have to say my favourite interviews were Catriona Rowntree (we bonded over our love for Gogglebox), Ita Buttrose (I mean the woman is a legend), Chyka Keebaugh (open, honest and friendly definitely my favourite Housewife) and of course the super charming and brilliant Waleed Aly. I thought I liked him before but boy oh boy did he leave a lasting impression on me.
As for the fashion – there were so many stand outs including – pocket rocket Emma Freedman, Carrie Bickmore, Chyka Keebaugh, Sonia Kruger, Jessica Marais, Lisa Wilkinson and Pia Miller.
All in all it was well worth the trip to Melbourne and has got me itching to do more red carpet events.
Who did you love seeing on the red carpet and were you happy with the winners? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Got to go and watch the Housewives drama unfold.
Until next time Bel xxx
